Theft From Vehicles
Belleville, Ont ? On Monday March 30, 2009, at approximately 1030a.m., an officer within the Street Crime Unit observed three male youths acting suspiciously in the Palmer Road area. The males appeared to be canvassing cars parked various parking lots.
They were observed entering two unlocked vehicles in the parking lot at Centennial Secondary School. In one vehicle they removed sunglasses and cigarettes.
When the officer approached, all three fled inside Centennial Secondary School. After a short foot chase one of the suspects, a 17 year old male, was arrested and subsequently charged with one count each of Breach of Probation and Theft Under $1000.00. Further investigation resulted in this male being further charged with Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking under the CDSA. His name cannot be released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police have since identified the other youths involved, a 15 year old and 16 year old male; however this incident is still under investigation. All three youths live within the City of Belleville, however it should be noted that none were students at Centennial Secondary School.
The Belleville Police Service would like to remind the public to either secure their vehicles when parked or secure valuable items within the vehicle as in this case it appears suspects were canvassing for unlocked vehicles for entry.
Belleville, Ont ? On Monday March 30, 2009, at approximately 5:30p.m., police responded to an east end resident regarding an unlawful entry into the home. The victim reported an ex boyfriend entered her home without her consent and demanded property he alleged belonged to him. The suspect was yelling at the victim to the point where she eventually gave him the property he was requesting.
Further investigation revealed the suspect had also attended the victim?s place of business and surrounded her car with various pieces of property so that without removing them she was blocked in.
A 50 year old Belleville man was arrested a short time later and charged with one count each of Criminal Harassment and Unlawfully in a Dwelling House.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with OIC Undertaking with a May court date.
