Belleville Police Service responded to 65 calls for service from the 29th of November 2019 at 5:00 a.m. to the 30th of November at 5:00 am

Domestic assault

Belleville, ON – On the 29th of November shortly after 7:00 am, police responded to a disturbance at a west end residence between two parties, one of which was released shortly after 6:00 am after spending the night in cells for public intoxication. Police investigation resulted in a 41-year-old Belleville male being arrested at 1:00 pm in Trenton for two counts of assault and mischief. He is being held in custody for a video remand hearing on the 30th of November. Names are being withheld to protect the identity of the victim and family.

Police pursuit leads to charges

Belleville ON - On the 29th of November at 11:35pm, police received a call regarding a possible impaired driver on Sidney Street. Police located the vehicle and attempted to stop it; however, the driver refused to pull over. Police attempted to block the vehicle from proceeding, and the male suspect made intention contact with two police cruisers as he attempted to flee. The male then ran off the road, through a ditch, eventually getting stuck on nearby railroad tracks. After a brief chase, the male was arrested. A 54-year-old male from the Greater Toronto Area was held in custody for a bail hearing on charges of flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property, and driving while under suspension.

Police begin holiday RIDE campaign

Belleville ON - On the 29th of November, Belleville Police began their 2019 holiday RIDE campaign. Police checked 240 vehicles and administered two roadside breath tests. There were no charges laid.
