Arrests / Ongoing Investigations

As a result of assistance from diligent and observant members of our community arrests have been made in a break & enter and theft from vehicle(s).

Belleville, Ontario ? On 31 August, 2010 at 3:03 a.m., police attended in the area of Moira Street West in response to a call from a witness informing police of 2 males on the roof of a business. Investigation of this incident led to one male being apprehended at the scene and the second one being apprehended a short distance from the scene.
A 35 year old, Belleville man has been arrested for one count of Break and Enter.
A 31 year old Belleville man has also been charged with one count of Break and Enter.
Both males will appear in Provincial Court on 14 October, 2010. This investigation is ongoing.

Belleville, Ontario ? On 31 August, 2010 at 1:15 a.m., police attended in the Tracey Street area in response to a citizen observing two people breaking into vehicles. Police arrived in the area and observed a male and female matching the description that had been previously provided. Investigation of this incident led to the arrest of an 18 year old male and a 16 year old Roslin female for one count each of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. Youths that cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Dylan Potter (18 years) of Belleville will appear in Provincial Court on 7 October, 2010.
Belleville Police continue to encourage all citizens to call police and report any suspicious activity.

Belleville, Ontario? On 31 August, 2010 shortly after 1:00 a.m., police attended in the area of Moira Street West in order to assist the Toronto Police Service in the arrest of a male that was wanted for Robbery, Assault and Forcible Confinement. Belleville Police Service members observed a male matching the description of the wanted male. David Steele (23 years) was arrested for the outstanding warrants and has since been returned to Toronto Police Service.

Break and Enter(s)
Belleville, Ontario ? On 30 August, 2010 at 8:04 a.m., police attended at a North Park Street business site in response to a complaint of a break and enter. The employee reported that unknown person(s) entered the yard and stole numerous power tools from vehicles sometime between Friday 27 August, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. and Monday 30 August, 2010 at 7:30 a.m... This investigation is ongoing.
Belleville, Ontario ? On 30 August, 2010 at 8:46 a.m., police attended at a business on Everett Street in response to a complaint of a break and enter. The employee reported that between Sunday, 29 August at 11:00 a.m. and Monday, 30 August at 8:15 a.m., unknown person(s) entered the business and stole electronics and a welder. This investigation is ongoing.

Belleville, Ontario - On 30 August, 2010, at 4:10 p.m., a serious injury motor vehicle collision occurred at Old Hwy 2 and Old Kingston Rd. Both involved vehicles were westbound at the time of the collision.
A Ford Taurus was driving in the curb lane and made turning movement across the path ofa Jeep Grand Cherokee. This was the cause of the collision. The driver of the Taurus was attended to by EMS and Belleville Fire transported to BGH and eventually sent to Kingston General Hospital for further treatment.
The two other occupants of the Taurus were not injured. The occupants of the Jeep, (2 adult women and 2 children) were taken to BGH by private vehicles to be assessed for minor injuries.
The collision is being investigated by Cst Brad Stitt and any witnesses are asked to contact him. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the collision.
