Belleville Police Issues Community Alert on High Risk Offender

Pursuant to the Police Service Act the Chief of Police is authorized to make following release.

The Belleville Police is alerting members of the Community to be aware that Robert Joseph LAVERGNE will be residing in the Belleville area beginning on Thursday the 31st of January 2013, after completing his 3 year Sentence in a Federal Institution.

LAVERGNE has a criminal history of Sexual Interference, Invitation to Sexual Touching, Obtain Sexual Services of a person under 18, and Failing to Comply.

The Belleville Police Service High-Risk Offender investigator will be monitoring LAVERGNE and has been granted an 810.1 Recognizance. LAVERGNE must abide by strict conditions including but not limited to:

Not to engage in any activity that involves contact with persons under the age of 16 years.

Not to attend specific public places such as parks, daycares, playgrounds, schools or anywhere else persons under the age of 16 years will be present.

Advise of any address change and remain at his place of residency at specified times.

Report to Police regularly.

LAVERGNE is described as a 33 year old white male, 5'11 tall, 240 lbs, brown hair, and brown eyes.

Belleville Police Service believes LAVERGNE may pose a risk to the community, particularly children. Residents are asked to be watchful and report any suspicious people in their neighbourhoods or public places.
