Arrested on warrants

Belleville, Ontario – On July 30th, 2018, at 6:32 p.m. officers attended in the area of Bridge Street West at Dunbar Street in regards to a suspicious male. The male was sitting on a roof “hugging” a chimney. A check on this male revealed that he was wanted on outstanding warrants for two counts of breach of probation. Terry Cheverie, 47 years of age, of Belleville, was arrested and held for a bail hearing on July 31st, 2018.

 

On July 31st, 2018, at 12:19 a.m. officers on patrol recognized a male on Front Street who was wanted on outstanding warrants. Gary Switzer, 28 years of age, of Belleville, was arrested and held for a bail hearing on July 31st, 2018. His charges include assault and failing to appear for court.

 

 

Bicycle thief apprehended

Belleville, Ontario – On July 30th, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. a resident on Golfdale Road reported that a youth had just stolen a bicycle from their property. An officer observed the youth on the bike on Bridge Street East and followed the suspect to the downtown core. The youth was located walking on Pinnacle Street after discarding the bike. The youth directed the officers to the area of the Belleville Library where the bike was recovered. The homeowner did not wish to proceed with charges and the 16-year-old youth was released unconditionally.

 

 

Breach of a restraining order

Belleville, Ontario – On July 28th, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. officers attended at Marianne Sills Park regarding a male breaching a restraining order. On July 30th, 2018 a 43-year-old Belleville man was charged with disobeying a court order. He will appear in Belleville Criminal Court on August 13th, 2018.

 

 

R.I.D.E. Program

Belleville, Ontario – On July 31st, 2018, a RIDE checkpoint was set up on Cannifton Road. A total of 59 cars were checked with no infractions.
