The Belleville Police Service responded to 52 calls for service between April 2nd, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and April 3rd, 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Update on Quinte Mall robbery

Belleville, ON, On the 1st of April 2019 at Belleville Police received an alarm to Charm Diamond Centre in the Quinte Mall. Police received information that a male had grabbed two rings from a store employee and fled from the mall through the Shoppers Drug Mart entrance. The male then got into a white SUV - believed to be a Mazda Tribute - that was waiting at the entrance and fled the scene toward Denny’s, exiting onto North Front Street. Video footage showed that the license plate had been removed from the vehicle prior to the robbery. The male suspect was described as:

  • Approximately mid 30’s
  • 5’6 thin build
  • Caucasian
  • Wearing a blue toque, dark blue jacket, blue jeans, black boots
  • Crooked teeth with a chipped right front tooth.

Child assaulted, police seek witnesses


Belleville, ON – On the 2nd of April 2019, police took a report of an assault that took place at 2:45 p.m. in the area of Macdonald Avenue and Eastwood Park Drive. A 12 year-old boy was riding his scooter home when he was assaulted by three males. Two of the males reportedly held the victim down, while the third destroyed his scooter. The three suspect males then ran away. The suspects are believed to attend high school in the area. Police are seeking witnesses to the incident. Traffic Stop leads to charges

Belleville, ON -  On the 2nd of April 2019 at 9:30 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on North Front Street regarding a license plate violation. Police identified the driver and discovered he was suspended. A further search of the vehicle lead police to find cannabis which was readily available to the driver. John Clarke, 46, of Belleville was charged with drive under suspension and having cannabis readily available. He will appear in court on May 6.
