Belleville, Ont. - On August 4, 2009, at 1:54 a.m., an Officer was responding to a report of a stolen car in the City?s west end when the stolen car crossed his path. The vehicle failed to stop for Police on Yeomans St. and continued south to Parker St. Once on Highland Ave, the vehicle mounted the curb at the south end of the street and drove down the grassy embankment onto Dundas St. West. Officers were able to follow the marks on the roadway because of a damaged rim on the stolen car. These tracks led over the Bay Bridge into Rossmore where the stolen car was located abandoned.
The investigation is continuing.
Belleville Police were kept busy overnight with 42 calls for service. The majority of the calls were minor in nature though. There were no arrests during this time frame.
Charges are pending in one investigation where a complaint of criminal harassment was lodged against another party.
One West Hill resident was charged under the Noise By-law as Police attended twice in relation to loud music.
