Break & Enter
Belleville, Ontario ? Sometime between July 30th and August 3rd, 2010 a Marine and Construction Company on Point Anne Lane was broken into. Suspects entered boats on the property and emptied fire extinguishers, broke windows, emptied first aid kits and took an unknown amount of flares. This incident is currently under investigation.
Belleville, Ontario ? On August 3, 2010, at 2:30 p.m., a suspect attempted to use a fraudulent credit card at the Quinte Mall. Police responded to a Camera store at the mall where the suspect attempted to purchase a $1700.00 camera. The transaction was not completed and when employees indicated they knew there was an issue with the card the suspect fled leaving the card behind. Further investigation revealed just previous to this incident the suspect attempted the same at another camera store in the mall.
The suspect is described as male, 6'1?, thin build, short dirty blond hair, with a heavy European accent. He was wearing a green ?Arrow' shirt and sunglasses.
Assault & Forcible Confinement
Belleville, Ontario ? On August 3, 2010 police responded to a complaint of an Assault that was reported to have occurred on August 2nd at a Dundas Street West address. The victim was punched in the face and then locked in a maintenance room where he was threatened if he should try to leave. During this time, the accused had entered the victim's bedroom and removed numerous personal possessions including clothing, electronics, games and a television. The victim was eventually released and reported this incident to police.
Charged with one count each of Robbery, Extortion, Forcible Confinement, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Probation is Joshua GJELSTAD, 21 years old, from the City of Belleville. GJELSTAD had been held for a Bail Hearing set for August 4, 2010.
Mischief - Graffiti
Belleville, Ontario ? On August 3, 2010 police responded to 5 complaints of Mischief to Property.
These incidents are believed to have occurred sometime between August 1st and 2nd and all were in relation to property being spray painted. Staff from Centennial Secondary School reported suspects sprayed painted a wall on the south side of the building as well as on a dumpster. The spray painting appears to be ?graffiti' and is similar to reports of graffiti spray painted on a sign at the Dairy Queen on Dundas St East , a trailer at the Mary Ann Sills Park , the building of Brew by You on Dundas St East and the building of Vouts Hearing & Denture Clinic on Dundas St East
