Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

Belleville, Ontario ? On 3 August, 2011 at 11:07 p.m., police were informed by Tyendinaga Police of a recent break and enter where a 2010 Dodge Caravan, black had been stolen within the last few hours.

On 4 August, 2011 at 4:04 a.m., police observed a Dodge Caravan in the area of Millennium Parkway and Highway 62.

Investigation of this incident led police to the area of Doucette Road and Highway 62 where the Dodge Caravan drove into the ditch in an effort to avoid the police.

One male fled the vehicle from the driver's door, a second male fled the vehicle from the passenger's side and was arrested a short distance from the vehicle. A third male remained in the vehicle and was subsequently arrested.

The Canine Unit was dispatched to assist in tracking the male that had fled from the driver's door and a short time later the male was arrested. Byron Lewis (18 years) of Shannonville has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and will appear in Provincial court on 29 September, 2011.

The identity of the other 2 males is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
