Police Chief for the Day
Belleville, Ontario ? On 3 August, 2011, Reid Travers (8 years) was Belleville's Police Chief for the day. This duty was bestowed upon him after a family member secured the highest bid from the silent auction (supporting the new pavilion at west Zwick's Park).
Chief Travers had a full day monitoring the activities' of members from the Forensic Identification Section, training branch, canine, traffic and communications and as well attended meetings.
Chief Travers reported that he was most impressed with the service's newest member, "Jack? (a year and a half old German Sheppard) and was most surprised at the number of strangers that spoke to the Chief even when trying to eat his lunch (bugs and cheese) at Boston Pizza. Chief Travers noticed how he was treated differently when wearing the police uniform and commented "I hope no one will notice me? after his duties were fulfilled for the day.
Chief Travers thoughts on changes were "to make the station a little bigger, a little newer and to add some windows?. .
Reid Travers marked the day a success when he said "I want to be a Chief some day?.
