Belleville, Ontario ? Belleville Police responded to 3 Break & Enters over the weekend.
The first was reported on July 2nd at 1:25 p.m., from a Front Street resident. The homeowner reported the entry was gained sometime between July 1st and 2nd from 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Thieves took an undisclosed amount of cash.
The second Break & Enter was reported on July 2nd at 9:00 p.m. A homeowner on Rollins Drive advised the entry was gained within the previous 24 hours through a bedroom window. Thieves took a large coin collection and several classic comics.
The third Break & Enter occurred at a home on Airport Parkway. This was reported on July 3rd and the entry occurred sometime over the past four months. The home was not being occupied on a regular basis during that time. Thieves gained entry and removed all the copper piping in the home. Thieves also took a number of small hand tools, a camcorder and a stained glass window.
All of these Break & Enters are currently under investigation.
Belleville, Ontario ? On July 1, 2011 at 1:05 a.m. while Belleville police were on scene at a North Front Street address investigating another incident. Witnesses reported vandalism to the parked Belleville police cruiser. Witnesses observed a male jump on the front hood of the cruiser and run over the entire length causing damage to it. Just prior to police responding to this, the same suspect again jumped on the front hood and this time jumped up and down on the roof of the cruiser. Police arrested and charged Patrick EVANS, 24 years old from Selby, Ontario with one count of Mischief. EVANS was later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date set in August 2011.
Belleville, Ontario ? On July 2, 2011 at 2:10 a.m. police were dispatched to Front Street regarding a male draped in a Canadian flag kicking in a large store front window. On arrival police arrested and charged an 18 year old Belleville man for Mischief and Fail to Comply. This accused male was remanded into custody awaiting a Bail Hearing set for July 4th.
Belleville, Ontario ? On July 2, 2011 at 2:20 a.m. police responded to several reports of Mischief to Property at a North Front Street plaza address. The damage was caused by the property being sprayed painted. In all a shopping cart kiosk, shopping carts, a building, two vehicles, a light standard, dumpster, and a door were sprayed painted. Further investigation lead to Jonathon LEGG, 22 year old from Hamilton, Ontario being arrested and charged with 7 counts of Mischief to Property. LEGG as later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date set in August 2011.
Belleville, Ontario ? On July 4, 2011 police received a complaint of a Stolen Vehicle. The vehicle owner reported the vehicle was taken sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on July 3rd from a driveway on Alexander Street. The vehicle is a 1999 green 2-door Chev Cavalier. The vehicle plate number is BBWN815. The vehicle had a dent on the front fender and the door on the passenger side.
Media Update: Death of Alex Brooks
On February 5th, 2011, Belleville Police responded to the area of the Via Rail Station at 220 Station Street regarding the death of 15 year old Alex Brooks.
A post mortem was conducted in Ottawa on February 7th, 2011. The cause of death was hypothermia. A significant contributing factor related to the cause of death was acute intoxication.
The Belleville Police Service and the parents of Alex Brooks would like to remind parents that it is important to know what your children are doing and where they are. This was a tragic set of circumstances that resulted in the death of a 15 year old child.
Arrest/ CDSA Search warrant Executed
As a result of an extensive investigation conducted by members of Project Longarm, on the 30th of June a City of Belleville vehicle, being operated by a City of Belleville employee and a second vehicle were stopped at the intersection of Bell Blvd and Enterprise Drive. Subsequent to these vehicles stop, a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant was executed at a Tweed address. Seized between the two vehicles and the Tweed address was 5 pounds of marijuana.
