Break & Enter(s)

Belleville Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a suspect in 3 Break & Enters that occurred on May 1, 2011.

All 3 break and enters occurred within a short period of time in the Sinclair and Holloway Street area between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.

The first occurred at a Holloway Street residence where a woman woke to find a male in the upstairs area of her home. When confronted the male fled out the front door. He was described as approximately 5'9?, slim build, wearing a black hoodie, running shoes and carrying a black knap sack. The suspect was also wearing what appeared to be prescription glasses. He was last seen running toward Hillside Street. Entry had been gained to the home through the front door. Nothing was taken as a result of this entry.

The second incident occurred on Sinclair Street a short time later. The homeowner woke to the sound of someone kicking in the north screen window of her apartment. The homeowner confronted the suspect as he was attempting to maneuver himself through the window. The homeowner yelled at the suspect to ?get out'. The suspect fled from the home however direction of travel is unknown.

The suspect was described as male, white, slim build, black with a white designed hoodie, jeans and wearing glasses.

The third incident occurred on Sinclair Street where the homeowner was in the basement of the house when he heard the patio door of his home being opened. When he went to investigate he found the male suspect standing in his living room. The homeowner chased the suspect from his home where he lost sight off him on Sinclair Street.

The suspect was described as dressed all in ?dark clothing' and was wearing a baseball hat.

The Belleville Police Service Canine Unit assisted in these incidents however was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigations Division has initiated an investigation that has involved interviews and canvasses in an attempt to identify this male and any potential witnesses.

Police would like to remind homeowners to ensure that all windows and doors are secure and in particular later in the evening when they retire for the night. Police would also like the public to contact them if suspicious person(s) or activities are observed in their neighbourhood and in particular in the area of Sinclair and Holloway Street at approximately 4:00 to 4:30 a.m. on Sunday May 1, 2011.
