Break & Enter(s)

Belleville, Ontario ? On August 4, 2010 at 5:00 a.m., an officer on patrol heard an audible alarm going off in the area of Dundas Street East at Foster Ave. While checking businesses in the area the officer observed a male carrying a box at the rear of the plaza at this location. Upon seeing the officer the male dropped the box and fled back into the building. Other officers responded to the area to set up containment of the building. Further investigation revealed the suspect and entered Block Busters through a roof vent and was able to escape prior to the other officers arriving at the scene.

Nothing was stolen as a result of this Break & Enter and it is currently under investigation.

Belleville, Ontario ? On August 4, 2010, sometime after 3:00 a.m. and suspects broke into a home on Russell Street and stole an IPhone and Blue tooth. Entry was gained through an unlocked screen door. Homeowners were asleep at the time of the entry and discovered the theft later in the morning.

Robbery

Belleville, Ontario ? On August 5, 2010, at 3:55 a.m., police responded to a Robbery on North Front Street. The victim reported he had been out with friends for the evening however got separated from them and was therefore walking alone back to his residence. As he was walking through a North Front Street parking lot he was jumped from behind and knocked to the ground. The suspect told the victim to turn over his wallet and threatened to use a knife if the victim did not comply. The victim resisted and was kicked, punched and kneed by the suspect. The suspect was finally able to remove the victim's wallet and then fled south bound on North Front Street. The suspect was last seen running behind the plaza on the north east corner of Bell Boulevard and North Front Street.

The victim sustained minor head and face injuries and was treated and released from Belleville General Hospital for these injuries.

Just prior to this Robbery a witness on North Front Street observed a male in the area wearing a grey or white hoodie sweatshirt. This person may also be a witness and police are requesting assistance from the public in identifying who this person might be.

Theft & Prowl at Night

Belleville, Ontario ? On August 5, 2010, at 1:20 a.m., police responded to a call for service regarding a male who had been caught entering a vehicle on Highland Ave. Two local residents had observed a male entering a vehicle parked on their property. They apprehended the male while he was still inside the vehicle and then called police.

A 16 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with one count each of Theft, Prowl by Night and Fail to Comply. The youth was released on a Promise to Appear into the care of his parents with a September court date.

The name of the youth cannot be released due to the provisions within the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Stolen Vehicle

Belleville, Ontario ? On August 4, 2010 a Cannifton Road resident reported his vehicle stolen. The theft occurred sometime after 1:30 a.m. on August 4th. The vehicle plate number is 9562YF and is a 1993 Dodge Dakota, green is colour. Some of the distinctive features are; a sun visor on top of the windshield, CB radio and an air scoop on the hood of the truck. The truck was locked at the time of the theft.
