Assault Police/Resist/Obstruct Police and Mischief
Belleville, Ontario ? On 8 April, 2011 at 12:35 a.m., police were patrolling in the parking lot of a north end business. At this time the officer observed a group of 3 males and one of the males was throwing multiple grocery carts into the parking lot and one cart was thrown in front of the police cruiser.
Police spoke with the male about his behaviour and at that time noted the male was intoxicated. It is alleged that the officer arrested the male for public intoxication and at that time the male refused to follow directions by the officer and resisted arrest. This male continued to fail to comply with police and escalated his resistance. The officer called for assistance on his portable radio and then the male grabbed control of the officer's portable and disabled further communication by smashing it to the ground. At this point another of the original 3 males intervened in the arrest and as well assaulted the officer. The officer deployed a conductive energy weapon on the first male and eventually gained compliance of both males as other officers arrived.
