Stunt Driving ? 115 km/h in a 60 km/h zone
Belleville, Ont. - On June 8, 2009, at 5:00 p.m., Officers were monitoring the speed of traffic on Scuttlehole Rd. in Thurlow Township. This was as a result of community concerns into vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m., an officer locked a speeding vehicle in at 115 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. Under the Stunt Driving legislation, the driver had his driver?s licence suspended for 7 days. In addition, his vehicle was impounded for the 7 day period. The 38 year old Belleville man will appear in Traffic Court in July.
Belleville, Ont. - On June 8, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., a 55 year old Belleville was arrested on North Front St. for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.
Belleville, Ont. - On June 9, 2009, 1:00 a.m., a 40 year old Stirling man was arrested on Bleecker Ave. for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.
Theft & Possession
Belleville, Ont. - On June 8, 2009, at 10:20 p.m., Police responded to a North Front St. car dealership regarding two males removing property from a Union Gas Utility truck. The males transferred toolboxes, tool belts, ratchet sets, weed trimmers, and other supplies to the bed of a pick-up truck that was parked nearby. The males fled prior to Police arrival.
The officers staked out the parking lot awaiting the return of the culprits. At 1:45 a.m. the two suspects returned pulling a Little Tykes wagon behind them as they approached the stolen property. Both males were arrested at this point. Inside the wagon were two sets of gloves, large plastic bags, and open beer.
Both males, ages 24 and 25, are from Belleville.
A further check revealed that the 24 year old male had three warrants for his arrest totaling 5 criminal charges. (Warrants with the Belleville Police Service)
The 25 year old male had been arrested on June 8th on his warrant. (Warrant with the Belleville Police Service) He had been released at that time with a July court date.
Both males remain in custody as they will appear for Bail Hearings on June 9th. The property, valued at approx. $1500.00 was recovered in full. Both males face joint charges of Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Mischief. The 24 year old male has also been charged with three counts of Breach of Recognizance.
