Break & Enter(s)
Belleville, Ontario ? Belleville police responded to 7 reports of Break & Enter over the weekend. On November 5th at 4:40 p.m., a Coleman Street resident reported a break & enter to his home. Entry was gained by forcing a rear door and taken was jewellery, medication and a purse.
On November 6, 2010, at 10:30 p.m., a home owner on Bettes St. arrived home and found his front door open. Entry was gained sometime between November 2nd and the 6th. Two computers and food were reported as stolen.
On November 7, 2010, at 1:15 a.m., police responded to an alarm at a Bell Blvd restaurant. On arrival police observed the glass front door had been smashed. Although entry was gained to the restaurant nothing was taken.
On November 7, 2010, at 3:00 a.m., an officer on patrol found a glass front door smashed at a business on Maitland Drive. A small amount of cash was taken as a result of this entry.
On November 7, 2010, at 3:12 a.m., officers on patrol located two other break and enters in the same area on Mineral Road. Both business are located within a strip plaza and in both the front glass doors were smashed to gain entry and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from both.
On November 7, 2010, at 10:06 a.m., a resident from Moira Street East reported a break & enter to his home. Entry was gained through a sliding glass front window. A wallet, 2 wedding rings, cigarettes and beer were taken.
Belleville, Ontario ? On November 6, 2010, at 7:27 a.m., a vehicle owner left his vehicle running in his drive way as a means of warming it up. He left the vehicle unattended for a few minutes and when he came back out the vehicle was gone. The vehicle is a 1999 red 4 door red Honda Civic with plate ASJE962. The suspect left a bicycle behind.
Belleville, Ontario ? On November 6, 2010, at 5:45 p.m., a second vehicle was reported stolen from the parking lot at 366 North Front Street. The vehicle owner reported the vehicle was taken sometime between 5:00 - 5:45 p.m. The vehicle is a 2004 white GMC Sierra pick up truck. The plate number is 3579TF. The tail gate has a decal of a gold goalie mask in a net.
Theft of ATV
Belleville, Ontario ? On November 6, 2010, an ATV owner reported his ATV had been stolen from a Blessington Road address sometime between October 31st and November 6th. The ATV was being stored in an unlocked garage and the keys had been left in the ignition. The ATV is a 2004 blue 350 Yamaha 4 wheeler with plate number 53ST5.
Belleville, Ontario ? Police received reports of Mischief to eight vehicles over the weekend. In all incidents a window was smashed and in a few cases a rock was found in the vehicle. In some incidents property was stolen from inside the vehicle however the majority sustained property damage only. All of these incidents occurred over night. On November 5th, two vehicles were damaged one on Albert Street and one on Herchimer Ave. On November 6th, two vehicles were damaged one on Front Street and one on Bridge St East. On November 7th four vehicles were damaged on Herchimer Ave, Foster Ave, Bleecker Ave, and one on MacDonald Ave.
Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the person(s) responsible for these acts of Mischief. If you should have any information which would assist the police you are asked to call police at 613 966 0882 or Crime Stopper at 1 800 222 TIPS.
Robbery Charges Laid
On August 5, 2010 the Belleville Police Service notified the media of the following Robbery incident;
Belleville, Ontario ? On August 5, 2010, at 3:55 a.m., police responded to a Robbery on North Front Street. The victim reported he had been out with friends for the evening however got separated from them and was therefore walking alone back to his residence. As he was walking through a North Front Street parking lot he was jumped from behind and knocked to the ground. The suspect told the victim to turn over his wallet and threatened to use a knife if the victim did not comply. The victim resisted and was kicked, punched and kneed by the suspect. The suspect was finally able to remove the victim's wallet and then fled north bound on North Front Street. The suspect was last seen running behind the plaza on the north east corner of Bell Boulevard and North Front Street.
The victim sustained minor head and face injuries and was treated and released from Belleville General Hospital for these injuries.
Just prior to this Robbery a witness on North Front Street observed a male in the area wearing a grey or white hoodie sweatshirt. This person may also be a witness and police are requesting assistance from the public in identifying who this person might be.
On November 6, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. the Belleville Police Service arrested and charged Ryan HINKS, 27 years old from the City of Belleville with one count of Robbery in relation to this occurrence.
