R.I.D.E. Program

Bellevillle, Ontario - Belleville Police Service conducted a RIDE program overnight at various locations throughout the city and stopped 155 vehicles. As a result, three motorists were charged with various liquor and traffic related offences.

Serious Motor Vehicle Collision

Bellevillle, Ontario - On Saturday the 8th of December 2012 at 5:11pm a serious injury motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Bridge Street West and Sidney Street. A Belleville transit bus was travelling westbound on Bridge Street attempting to turn left onto Sidney Street southbound. A 55 year old male pedestrian operating a motorized mobility scooter was attempting to cross the intersection eastbound when he was struck by the bus. The pedestrian suffered serious head injuries and was transported to Quinte Health Care and later transferred to Kingston General Hospital. The driver of the bus and passengers were not injured. Belleville Police Service Traffic Management Unit Collision Re-constructionists andForensic Identification Unit attended the locationto complete the investigation. Speed and alcohol have been determined to have not been a factor in the collision. The roadway was closed for 4 hours.
