Belleville Police Partner for Traffic Safety Blitz

Belleville ON – On Thursday the 14th of June, 2018, Belleville Police Service Traffic Safety Unit and partners, conducted a commercial vehicle safety blitz in the City.

Members of the Belleville Police Service, Kingston Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Finance conducted commercial vehicle inspections throughout the day.

Ministry of Transportation Inspectors conducted 35 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Inspections. 14 of the vehicles inspected were taken out of service (40%). 22 charges were laid and 3 sets of plates were removed form vehicles.

Ministry of Environment inspected 10 vehicles for emission violations. 5 repair notices were issued along with 2 warnings.

Belleville Police Officers who were on patrol looking for vehicles in need of inspections also issued 20 Provincial Offence Notices for speeding and other offences throughout the City.

The Belleville Police Service is committed to traffic safety and will continue its efforts in making Belleville streets the safest in Ontario.
