CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECKS

HISTORY:

Recently all Police Services have received a notice from the RCMP, the responsible authority for the administration of CPIC and the Identification data bank, concerning the manner in which Criminal Recordchecks are processed.

As part of the changes required for people who do not have a criminal record, we will require a new stamp stating "Based on the information received, there is no criminal record identified. Information can only be confirmed by fingerprint comparison."

For people who do have a criminal record, we will no longer be attaching the criminal record. We will process this as normal, and a new stamp will be stamped on front of the form stating " There may or may not be a criminal record in existence. Information can only be confirmed by fingerprint comparison."

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
