Belleville Police Service responded to 65 calls for service from the 7th of February 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 8th of February 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Theft, Escape Custody

Belleville ON – On the 7th of February 2020 at 6:45 p.m., Belleville Police attended a North end grocery store in regards to a theft.  Store security attempted to apprehend the accused who was observed exiting the store with products without paying for them.  The accused pulled away from the security officer and took off from the scene.  Police were able to quickly locate and arrest the accused in the vicinity.  Approximately $60 of product was stolen from the grocery store and was recovered by police. 

Belleville resident, 32-year-old Miranda Wolfe was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5000 and Escape Lawful Custody.  The accused was subsequently released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear at the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on March 5th 2020 to answer for the charges. 

Motor Vehicle Collision – Power Outage

Belleville ONOn the 7th of February 2020 at 7:15 p.m., Belleville Police were dispatched to the area of 254 Sidney Street in regards to a single motor vehicle collision.  A single motor vehicle struck a hydro pole knocking out power in the area leaving thousands of West side residents in the dark.  Along with police, city hydro crews and the Belleville Fire Department attended the scene.  Sidney Street was shut down between Moira St W and Wilson St due to electrical hazards.   

Police Units did remain in the blacked-out area to provide any assistance to residents that may required it.

Hydro crews were able to restore power to local residents at approximately 1:30 a.m. and Sidney St was re-opened at 2:00 a.m.

A 54-year-old Toronto driver was involved in the collision and did not sustain any injuries however, the vehicle was severely damaged.  The male driver was charged with one count of Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. 


Belleville ON – On the 7th February 2020 at approximately 10:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of North Front St. and College St. regarding a male causing a disturbance.  34-year-old, Michael Primeau of Belleville was arrested on a warrant for outstanding charges already before the court.  The accused was held in custody on the warrant and scheduled to appear before a Justice on February 8th 2020 for a Show Cause Hearing.
