The Belleville Police Service responded to 57 calls for service from January 15th, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to January 16th, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.

Theft & Mischief

Belleville, ON – January 15th, 2021 – 12:00 p.m.

City police attended a residence in the north end of the city regarding a theft of vehicle plates and camera equipment.  This incident was in relation to a domestic situation.  After the investigation, officers arrested a 35-year-old Belleville Man for Theft Under $5000 and Domestic Mischief. 

The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Belleville Court on February 8th, 2021 to answer to his charges.  The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim. 

Drugs / Breach of Court Order

Belleville, ON – January 15th, 2021 – 8:00 p.m.

City police stopped a vehicle on Ann Street at Dundas Street East as the driver was known to the police and known to be in breach of a court order.  The investigation revealed that the accused female was in a small possession of cocaine.  The accused was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service. 

50-year-old, Andrea Thomas of Belleville was charged with Breaching a Court Order and Possession of a Scheduled 1 substance, that being cocaine.  The accused was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Belleville Court on February 8th, 2021 to answer to her charge. 

Warrant

Belleville, ON – January 16th, 2021 – 12:30 a.m.

Belleville Police received a call from an upset female who advised that she was arguing with a male who had been staying in her apartment for a few days and that she feared for her safety as he was starting to show signs of violence.  The complaint left the apartment with her children and advised officers that the male suspect was wanted by the Belleville Police and that he told her he would not be taken by law enforcement. 

The investigation revealed that the suspect was wanted on a number of serious criminal offences that stemmed back from an interaction with Belleville Police in December 2020 where the accused led police on a vehicle pursuit in the city that was called off for safety reasons.  The accused also attempted to strike a police officer with his vehicle while the officer was standing outside of his patrol vehicle during that incident.

This morning, members of the Belleville Police Services, Emergency Response Team along with the K9 Unit made entry into the south east end apartment complex unit and took the accused into custody without incident.  The accused, 40-year-old Andrew Vernon of Brampton Ontario is charged with the following criminal & provincial offences;

  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Assaulting a Police Officer
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Driving Under Suspension
  • Using Plates Not Authorized for a Vehicle
  • Driving a Motor Vehicle with No Valid Permit

All charges are currently before the Court. 

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Kingston Court via video link for a Show Cause Hearing this morning, January 16th, 2021 to answer to his charges.  The Accused also has outstanding warrants out of the Waterloo Region that are presently before the courts as well.  The accused will be turned over to the Waterloo Regional Police Service after all of the Belleville matters are dealt with.
