Belleville, Ontario – At approximately 7:04 a.m. on January 20th police responded to the Petro Gas station on Cannifton Road for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim was inside paying for gas when a male exited from another vehicle outside and jumped into the victim’s vehicle, driving northbound on Cannifton Road. The stolen vehicle is described as a 2006 Chev Silverado pickup, grey in colour; licence plate # ROXNTED. The male suspect is described as being a white male in his early to mid-thirties, with short dark hair and a medium build with tattoos, wearing a red t-shirt, shorts and running shoes. The suspect was observed to have exited from a newer model Chev Silverado – dark red or maroon in colour. It is believed to be either the 2500 or 3500 series. This vehicle then quickly left in an unknown direction. The stolen vehicle was later involved in another theft of gas in the Kawartha Lakes region at approximately 10 a.m. the same morning. Kawartha OPP are investigating this occurrence. Anyone with any information on the suspect or the vehicles involved are asked to contact investigating officer Cst. ** Update: On January 20th, at 11:55 p.m. the stolen truck was recovered by the Dufferin OPP outside Orangeville. The vehicle was involved in a single vehicle accident as it had rolled through a ditch. A male was arrested nearby. At the time of this press release the suspect had refused to identify himself.
On January 20th, 2018, at 3:27 p.m. a vehicle was reported stolen from Dundas Street East area. The owner indicated that the car had been taken without her consent. A short time later the vehicle was located in the ditch on Hwy 62 north of Foxboro. The accident is being investigated by the Centre Hastings OPP. The investigation is continuing.
On January 20th, 2018, at 10:54 p.m. a truck was reported stolen from the Herchimer Avenue area. The owner indicated that the truck had been taken without her consent. A short time later an officer located the truck parked on Haig Rd. The owner was re-united with her truck. No charges anticipated in this matter.
Belleville, Ontario – On January 21st, 2018, at 2:24 a.m. police attended at a bar on Bridge Street West in relation to an unruly patron. The staff reported that a male was throwing bar stools around. He was still challenging other males to fight when police arrived on scene. A 64-year-old Prince Edward County man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place. No one was injured.
