Theft from motor vehicles

 

Police attended the south-west portion of the city just after 5a.m. on January 27th, 2018 for a report of young males going through vehicles.  Both males were tracked to the area of the Bay Bridge and were arrested without incident.  A 15-year old youth was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime and trespass by night.  A 14-year old male was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime, trespass by night, and 2 counts of failing to comply with probation.  Neither person can be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.  Both youths have been released from custody and are to appear in the Youth Court in February.

 

Disturbances

 

Belleville, Ontario – On January 27th, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. police attended at 230 West Moira Street for two reports of disturbances – one in building C and the other in building E. It was determined that the same parties were involved in both disturbances. A check on one of the males revealed an outstanding warrant for theft, possession of stolen property and using a stolen credit card. This stems from an incident in Belleville on October 2nd, 2017. The 31-year-old Belleville man was released with a court date of February 22nd, 2018. No charges arising from the dispute.

 

On January 27th, 2018, at 8:45 p.m. police were called to remove an unruly hockey fan from the Belleville Senators game at the Yardman Arena. A 50-year-old Vaughn man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.

 

On January 27th, 2018, at 11:55 p.m. police attended on Front Street in relation to a fight call. One of the combatants was thrown through the front window of a bar. A 32-year-old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place. The male who went through the window suffered a minor cut which did not require medical attention.

 

 

Domestic Assault

Belleville, Ontario – On January 26th, 2018 police commenced an investigation into a historical domestic assault investigation spanning a two-year period. On January 27th, 2018, at 7:45 p.m. a 20-year-old Belleville man was arrested . He was charged with four counts of assault and two counts of uttering death threats. He will appear in court on February 26th, 2018.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Belleville, Ontario – On January 27th, 2018 at 10:41 p.m. police attended on Bay Bridge Road in relation to a single-vehicle accident. A southbound car had left the roadway and struck the sign for Zwick’s Island. The driver was treated by EMS for minor injuries. The 28-year-old Stirling man was charged with careless driving.

 

Intoxicated person

Belleville, Ontario – On January 28th, 2018, at 1:31 a.m. police attended at a residence in West Park Village in relation to an intoxicated woman. The homeowners advised that the woman was trying to open the front door. The 28-year-old Edmonton woman was arrested for her own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. She was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.

Domestic Assault

Belleville, Ontario – On January 28th, 2018 at approximately 7:39 a.m. police attended to south-east residence for a disturbance call.  Investigation revealed that female was assaulted.  A 29-year old Belleville man was arrested for assault causing bodily harm.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing slated for January 29th

Prowler Arrested

Belleville, Ontario - Police made an early morning arrest just after 6 a.m. on January 28th on Moira Street West after reports of a prowler alerted patrol cars to the area. After speaking with witnesses and searching the area, 37-year old Jayson Lee Molenaar was taken into custody.  He was charged with Prowl by night, Possession of break and enter tools, disguise with intent, break and enter with intent, and attempting to commit indictable offences.  He was released on a Promise-to-Appear with an Officer-in-Charge Undertaking with a court date set in February.
