The Belleville Police Service responded to 32 calls for service between January 5th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. and January 6th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Recovered stolen vehicle

Belleville, ON – On January 5th, 2020 at 6:30 a.m. police attended at a business on Vermilyea Road in relation to the theft of a work vehicle. Stolen was a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck. At 9:45 a.m. an employee of this business observed the truck being operated in the City’s west end. Several cruisers converged on the stolen truck on College Street West. Both occupants of the truck were arrested without incident. 43-year-old Paul Cummings of Bancroft was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. He will appear in court on January 30th, 2020. A 30-year-old woman remains in custody and will appear for a bail hearing on January 6th, 2020 on similar charges.

Collisions with injuries

Belleville, ON – On January 5th, 2020 at 12:47 p.m. police attended on Dundas Street West at Coleman Street regarding a three-car collision. The airbags had been deployed in two of the cars. One driver suffered a broken ankle. She was taken to BGH by EMS and then transferred to Kingston General Hospital. A 22-year-old Belleville man was charged with making an unsafe left turn.

On January 5th, 2020 at 5:29 p.m. police attended on Dundas Street West at James Street regarding a two-car collision. EMS attended and transported one driver to BGH with minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. A 23-year-old Belleville woman was charged with failing to yield to traffic.

Intoxicated person

Belleville, ON – On January 5th, 2020, at 6:55 p.m. police attended on Church Street regarding an intoxicated male. A 32-year-old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
