The Belleville Police responded to 55 calls for service between 08 Jan at 5:00 a.m. and 09 Jan at 5:00 a.m.

Man arrested for theft

Belleville ON, On 8 Jan 2020 at 8:15 p.m., a male was observed stealing merchandise at a store in the north end of Belleville. A security officer, who was watching, him contacted the police. Officers arrived and arrested the male. A check of the male indicated that he was on probation. Andrew McNally, a 46-year-old Belleville man, was charged with one count of theft under $5000.00 dollars and one count of breaching his probation order. He was released on an undertaking with a court date of Feb 6, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.

Man charged after running red light

Belleville ON, On 8 January 2020, at 10:00 p.m., police observed a male at College Street and North Front Street run a red light in his truck and accelerate away without his lights on. Police conducted a traffic stop, and after speaking with the male driver, learned that his license was suspended. Police confirmed that the man had a suspended driver’s license from a previous alcohol related driving conviction. Dustin Smith, 26, of Marmora was arrested and released a short time later with an appearance notice to appear in court on February 6th. for the charge of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.

Suspended driver

Belleville ON, On 9 January 2020, at 1:20 a.m., police observed a vehicle driving on North Park Street. As the driver observed the police vehicle, he quickly turned into a near by parking lot and exited the vehicle. The male was stopped and identified at which time police learned that he had a suspended driver’s license. Carmen Witty, 25, of Kingston was charged with driving while under suspension. He was issued a summons to appear in court on 3 February 2020.
