Belleville Police Service responded to 65 calls for service from the 27th of July 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 28th of July 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

 

Motor Vehicle Collision results in Impaired Driving Charge

Belleville, Ontario – On the 27th of July at 9:00 p.m. Police responded to the East end of the City regarding a two-vehicle collision. It was reported that the suspect vehicle struck a parked vehicle and continued on to a residence where Police located the suspect vehicle. Police conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old Belleville man, Darko Zeljkovic, for impaired driving.  There were no injuries reported although one of the vehicles sustained significant damage. Mr. Zeljkovic was charged with Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs, and was released on an Undertaking where he was given a Court date of August 27th, 2020 to face the charges.

 

Disturbance Results in Charges

Belleville, Ontario – On the 27th of July at 8:00 p.m. Police responded to the area of Cannifton Road regarding a disturbance involving threats. Police attended the area and an investigation ensued revealing that a 32-year-old Belleville male suspect had been threatening people and assaulted a victim. Police located the male suspect who was subsequently arrested and charged with Assault, Uttering Threats, Weapons Dangerous and Breach of Probation. The male was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for bail.

 

City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on July 28th   2020.  Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
