The Belleville Police Service responded to 50 calls from February 29th., 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to March 1st. , 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Assault

Belleville, ON – On February 29th 2020 at 3:25 p.m., police were called to a residence in the east end of the city for a report of an assault on a female.  Police attended, investigated, and arrested a 39-year old city man on counts of spousal assault, and breaching conditions of a recognizance from a release earlier this year regarding the same female.  Police are not releasing the name of the man in order to protect the identity of the victim, who suffered minor injuries in the matter.  The man was transported to police headquarters, where he is being held for a show-cause hearing.

Motor vehicle collision – fail to remain

Belleville, ON – On March 1st 2020 at 1:46 a.m., police attended to a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Yeomans Street and Moira Street West. The crash involved a truck and a car.  One person was observed unconscious in the truck, while the driver of the car fled the scene on foot.  Both vehicles were severely damaged, and towed from the location.  The occupant of the truck was treated by EMS and taken to Belleville Hospital with minor injuries.  The investigation into the driver who left this scene remains under investigation.  Police are asking anyone who may have information as to the identity of the fleeing driver, or who may have witnessed this, to please contact investigating officer Cst.
