Belleville Police Service responded to 81 calls for service from the 9th of March 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 10th of March 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Impaired Driving by Drugs

Belleville, ON – On March 9th, 2020, at 8:48 a.m. the Belleville Police Service paddy wagon reported an impaired driver on Old Hwy 2 as they were westbound from Shannonville. The car was observed swerving within its own lane. The car was stopped by responding units on Dundas Street East.  The driver was arrested for impaired driving by drugs. Drugs were also located within the vehicle. Charged is 34-year-old Paul Catena of Napanee. He will appear in court on March 26th, 2020 on charges of impaired driving by drugs, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of fentanyl.


Belleville, ON – On March 9th, 2020, at 9:05 p.m. police responded to a disturbance on Front Street and Victoria Avenue. Witnesses advised that the suspect had fled eastbound on foot. Responding units located the male on Patterson Street. Derek Hokkanen, 21 years of age, of Belleville was charged with assault. One male was treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries. The accused will appear in court on April 2nd, 2020.

Traffic Enforcement

Belleville, ON – On March 10th, 2020, at 1:30 a.m. an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on North Front Street. The driver, a 43-year-old Belleville man, was a suspended driver. He was charged with driving while under suspension and driving with an expired valtag sticker. He will appear in Traffic Court on March 30th, 2020. His vehicle was eligible for the 45-day impoundment program.
