Belleville Police Service responded to 64 calls for service from the 26th of March 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 27th of March 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Trafficking / Drug Possession / Drive Prohibited

Belleville, ON – On the 26th of March 2020, at approximately 3:30 p.m., city police stopped a vehicle on Front St. as the driver was known to police as a prohibited driver.  During the investigative stop, numerous different types of illegal narcotics were located on the suspect. 

Belleville resident, 58-year-old, Brenda Biggar was charged with three counts of Possession of Cocaine, Crystal Meth & LSD for the Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000, Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited Drive, and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order.  The accused vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Brenda Biggar will attend the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges on June 4th 2020. 

UPDATE: Police Vehicle Pursuit / Dangerous Driving

Belleville ON – Belleville City Police were involved in a high-speed vehicle pursuit this past Wednesday evening on Cannifton Rd in which the pursuit was discontinued by police.  The suspect vehicle was later located in a South West parking lot in the city found abandoned.  Through the investigation, police were able to identify the suspect Driver.

On Thursday evening, March 26th 2020, police arrested Belleville resident, 22-year-old, Benn Trecartin for Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving, two counts of Failure to Comply with a Court Order, Driving Under Suspension and Fail to Stop for Police. 

Mr. Trecartin will attend the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on June 4th 2020 to answer to the charges.

Police Vehicle Pursuit / Dangerous Driving / Police Foot Pursuit

Belleville, ON – On the 26th of March 2020, at approximately 11:00 p.m., city police attempted to stop a motor vehicle Northbound on Yeomans St. when the driver took off at speeds in excess of 100km/h.  Police pursued the suspect vehicle Eastbound onto Elmer St at which time they discontinued the pursuit for public safety.  

Minutes later, police observed the suspect vehicle again, stopped near the Belleville Public Works on Wallbridge Cres and the suspect driver exiting the car, taking off on the run.  City officers pursued the suspect on foot and were able to chase down the suspect and made an arrest on Harriett St.   

Belleville resident, 43-year-old, Raymond Lloyd has been charged with Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving, Driving While Prohibited, No Insurance, Obstruct Plate and Plates Not Authorized.  Mr. Lloyd will appear in the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on June 4th 2020. 

Prowl by Night / Theft from Vehicles

Belleville, ON – On the 27th of March 2020, at approximately 2:45 a.m., city police were on routine patrol when an officer noticed a suspicious male around residential parked vehicles in the Victoria Ave & Farley Ave area.  Police detained the male and found through investigation that warrants existed for his arrest.  Police further found that vehicles in the area had been entered and that the suspect was in possession of a large amount of property that potentially belonged to home owners in the vicinity. 

Deseronto resident, 19-year-old, Nicholas Deline was arrested for the warrants and subsequently charged with prowl by night.  Police are continuing to investigate the possible thefts from the vehicles and further charges are pending. 

Mr. Deline will appear in Bail court scheduled this morning. 

City police are asking that if anyone in the East end are victims of theft from their vehicles over night to contact police at 613-966-0882 ext 2211and make arrangements to speak to the investigating officer, Acting Sergeant Yanch #151.
