The Belleville Police Service responded to 86 calls for service between March 2nd, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. and March 3rd, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Break and Enter

Belleville, ON – On March 2nd, 2020, at 4:35 a.m. police attended on Coleman Street as the home owner was reporting that two persons were trying to break in through a window. One of the suspects was wearing a white mask over his face. As the males fled a description of their car was given to the responding officers. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Pinnacle Street and East Moira Street. A passenger in this vehicle fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued through backyards with the suspect eventually being captured in a backyard on Strachan Street. The suspect was wearing a backpack that contained a white mask as well as a hammer. These items were seized as evidence. 25-year-old Jake Dancer of NFA was held for a bail hearing on March 3rd, 2020. His charges include attempted break and enter to a dwelling, prowl by night, possession of house-breaking tools and wearing a disguise.

Arrested on Warrants

Belleville, ON – On March 2nd, 2020, at 11:30 p.m. police attended at a residence on Bleecker Avenue in relation to a domestic disturbance. It was learned that the male party was wanted by the Belleville Police Service on an outstanding warrant. Officers staged at the rear of the residence and the wanted male bolted out the back door of the residence. The 23-year-old Belleville man was arrested without incident. His charges include assault, mischief to property and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing on March 3rd, 2020. His name cannot be released as the charges stem from a domestic assault investigation.

On March 1st, 2020, police commenced an investigation into several incidents of assault and sexual assault that occurred in February of 2020. The offender was known to the victim. As a result of an investigation a warrant was obtained for the arrest of a 19-year-old male. These charges included sexual assault X 2, assault, forcible confinement X 3, and breach of a recognizance X 5. With the assistance of the Kingston Police Service, this male was arrested in Kingston on March 2nd, 2020. The male was returned to Belleville and held for a bail hearing on March 3rd, 2020. His name will not be released.

On March 3rd, 2020, at 3:20 a.m. police attended at a residence on Sidney Street as a male was trying to break in through a window. The male was located nearby and resisted arrest. The male was tasered by police and taken into custody. The 36-year-old Belleville man was already wanted for a similar incident at the same residence 24 hours earlier. In that incident he was facing charges of mischief to property, uttering death threats and four counts of breach of probation. In the newest incident he is facing charges of weapons dangerous in relation to a large knife that was concealed in his clothing. He was also charged with mischief and another four counts of breach of probation. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing on March 3rd, 2020. His name will not be released given the domestic nature of the call.

Traffic Enforcement

Belleville, ON – On March 2nd, 2020, at 12:32 p.m. police attended at a two-car collision on Bell Blvd. west of Hannah Court. A 64-year-old Belleville man was charged with failing to yield from a private drive. There were no reported injuries.

On March 2nd, 2020, at 10:15 p.m. an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Bridge Street West. The driver, a 45-year-old Belleville man, was charged with driving while under suspension and failing to have valid insurance. He will appear in Traffic Court on March 30th, 2020.
