Traffic Stop – Drug and Driving Charges

Belleville, Ontario – On May 18th 2017 at 9:54pm, officers on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop near the central region of Belleville.  The driver was identified as a 34 year old male Belleville resident.  A 28 year old female Belleville resident was also in the vehicle.  Investigation revealed that the male is a disqualified driver in Canada.  Further investigation revealed a quantity of Schedule I controlled drugs in their possession.  As a result of the investigation, both the male and female are charged with 3 counts of Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.  The male has additional charges for driving while disqualified and breaching a Recognizance.  The male was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing on the 18th of May 2017 and the female was released on a Promise to Appear with an Officer in Charge Undertaking.
