Accidents

 

Belleville, Ontario – On May 19th, 2016, at 10:57 a.m. police attended at the intersection of Church St. and Victoria Ave. in relation to a two-car accident. One person was taken to BGH with minor injuries after being extricated from her car by Belleville Fire Department. The investigation is continuing.

 

On May 19th, 2016, at 12:13 p.m. police attended on Phillipston Road in relation to a two-car accident. One person was taken to BGH with minor injuries. One of the drivers was charged with “turn not in safety”.

 

On May 19th, 2016, at 1:45 p.m. police attended at the intersection of Pinnacle St. and Victoria Ave. in relation to a two-car accident. One vehicle was towed from the scene. There were no reported injuries. The investigation is continuing.

 

On May 19th, 2016, at 3:05 p.m. police attended on Emily St. at Lingham St. in relation to a two-car accident. There were no injuries and the investigation is continuing.

 

 

 

Kajiji Fraud

 

Belleville, Ontario – On May 19th, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. a property owner in Belleville advised that one of her properties was listed on Kajiji for rent. The ad indicated that the apartment could be rented and the funds could be sent to an unknown person. The property owner advised that she did not post this ad which was fraudulent. People are encouraged to visit a potential address first before forwarding any money for rent.

 

Assault

 

Belleville, Ontario – On May 19th, 2016, at 10:05 p.m. officers attended on Russell Place in relation to a domestic disturbance. As a result of an investigation, a 23 year old Belleville man was charged with assault and unlawfully in a dwelling house. He will appear in court on June 6th, 2016. No one was injured in this incident.

 

 

 

RIDE checks

 

Belleville, Ontario – On May 20th, 2016, officers conducted a RIDE program. A total of 76 cars were checked. There was one drug seizure as one motorist turned over a small quantity of marijuana. There were no charges in relation to this seizure.

 

 

False Alarm of Fire

 

Belleville, Ontario – On May 19th, 2016, at 2:46 a.m. a fire alarm sounded at an apartment building on Cannifton Road. Belleville Fire Department and police attended and determined that it was a false alarm. A further check revealed that a woman had pulled the fire alarm on one of the floors. This woman, a 32 year old from Belleville, was identified and charged criminally with “false alarm of fire”. She will appear in court on June 30th, 2016.
