The Belleville Police Service responded to 69 calls for service from November 13th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to November 14th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries

Belleville, ON – November 13th, 2020 – 7:00 a.m.

Belleville Police dispatched received a call regarding a motor vehicle that appeared to have left the roadway on Scuttlehole Rd in Thurlow Township.  Police were also made aware that a driver appeared to be trapped in the vehicle.  Officers attended the scene and in fact found one victim trapped in the motor vehicle which had sustained significant damage after slamming into a number of trees.  Belleville Fire attended the scene as the driver needed to be extricated from the wreckage.  The investigation revealed that the male driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed approximately 6 hours earlier without anyone around to notice. 

The driver, a 19-year-old Plainfield resident was transported to Belleville General Hospital via EMS with serious injuries and was shortly later transferred to Kingston General Hospital.  Belleville Police Traffic Management Unit was called in to take over the collision investigation and Scuttlehole Rd was closed to traffic for a few hours.  Police have determined that alcohol was a factor in this accident and impaired driving charges are possibly pending.  The investigation is continuing. 

Stolen Vehicle

Belleville, ON – November 13th, 2020 – 1:30 p.m.

Police received a report of a stolen vehicle taken out of a parking lot on South Front St.  The vehicle owner was in a store when a female suspect jumped in the car with the trunk open and took off eastbound on Dundas St E.  The stolen vehicle was described as a 2003 Burgundy Chevy Sunfire.  The suspect was described as an adult white female wearing a cut off jean jacket vest, white hoodie, white mittens and sunglasses. 

The vehicle has not been recovered at this time and is still outstanding as stolen.  Surrounding law enforcement agencies have been notified. 

Warrants

Belleville, ON – November 13th, 2020 – 11:00 p.m.

Belleville Police attended the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee where they picked up a male accused on an outstanding Belleville warrant who was being released after serving a sentence at the custodial facility. 

43-year-old, Chris Fitzell of Marmora was charged with Failing to Comply with a Court Order and Obstruct Police which are currently before the court.  The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to attend court on December 3rd, 2020 to answer to the charge.
