OPERATION SAFETY TREAT

Since 1998, Dairy Queen and the Belleville Police Service Community Policing Program have partnered for the initiative known as "Operation Safety Treat?.

In the interest of child safety, the owner of the Belleville Dairy Queen, Barry JUKOSKY has generously supplied front line officers with vouchers to hand out to children wearing safety helmets and riding in a safe manner which they can redeem for a Blizzard at the Dairy Queen.

This initiative recognizes the children that wear their helmets, practice safe riding habits and as a bonus provides an opportunity for positive interaction between the police and the youth in our community.

Once again Barry should be commended for his community spirit as this is a local initiative and all costs for this program are covered by our local Dairy Queen.

Once again during June, July, August and September officers will be stopping youths that are practicing safe riding and handing out the Safety Treat vouchers.

Belleville Police Service is committed to educating our community's youth. This program provides our officer's the opportunity to personally interact with local children, reinforce safe riding habits and to reward the positive behaviour of local children.
