Belleville Police Partner for Traffic Safety Blitz

Belleville ON – On the 5th, 6th and 7th of September, 2018, Belleville Police Service took part in Operation Safe Ride. A Joint Forces Operation involving the  Belleville Police Service Traffic Safety Unit,  Kingston Police, Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division, Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Environment. The operation focused on modified vehicles. 

The team conducted inspections in Napanee on the 5th of September, Kingston on 6th of September and Belleville on the 7th of September.

This three day operation focused on passenger vehicles that have been modified or appeared to be defective. The vehicles were stopped and then taken to an inspection site where our team members inspected the vehicles to ensure they were conforming to safety and emission standards.

 

In the three days the team gathered the following statistics:  

  • 51 Vehicles Inspected

  • 36 Provincial Offence Notices for various offences (Defective braking system/no muffler/improper tires, etc)

  • 7 Suspended Drivers Charged

  • 11 Sets of Licence Plates Seized

  • 1 Highway Traffic Act Vehicle Impound

  • 28 Repair Notices/Violation Notices Issued

 

The Out Of Service rate for Napanee was 50%, Kingston was 30% and Belleville was 30%.
