Pepper spray incident


Belleville – The Quinte Mall was evacuated and closed prematurely at approximately 7:30 P.M. last night as a result of a pepper spraying incident that took place inside the Winners entrance. Police and paramedics were called after a male was pepper sprayed by another male. The suspect then fled from the mall through the Winners entrance. Paramedics treated patrons on scene, including a 6 week old infant, who were cross contaminated by the spray. Two other patrons were transported to Belleville General Hospital where they were treated and released. There were no serious injuries as a result of the incident. Police are looking to identify the assailant who is described as a white male 25-35 yrs of age who was wearing a ball cap, white sleeveless shirt, shorts, and flip flops. Anyone with information as to the identity of the suspect are encouraged to call The Belleville Police Service at 966-0882.
