Warrant to recover stolen property leads to Drugs and Firearm Charges
Belleville Ontario, - On the 18th of September 2018, members of the Belleville Police Service Intelligence and Street Crime Unit, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police East Region TRU and the OPP CSCU unit executed two search warrants in the east end of City of Belleville.
Police were executing the warrants in search of stolen property relating to a break and enter at a business on highway 62 in late August of this year. Some property from that break and enter was recovered. Further, police seized a large quantity of drugs including cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and a loaded ‘sawed-off’ shotgun. A large quantity of cash, digital scales and syringes were also seized.
Police have charged three males with;
1) Possession of property obtained by crime
2) Three counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance
3) Possession of proceeds of crime
Two of the accused are; Cody Challis-Payne, 22 years old, of no fixed address and Jason Clancy, 36 years old of Belleville
A third male, Drew Stone, 32 years old of Belleville is facing an additional charge of possession of loaded prohibited firearm.
All three men were held for a show cause hearing on the 18th of September 2018 and may be facing additional charges as the investigation unfolds.
