UPDATE

Members of the Belleville Police Service’s Criminal Investigative Division have continued this investigation and as a result two additional males have been charged with criminal offences. 

Tyler Vandenbygaart, 19 years old of Kanata and Emmanuel Lewis, 31 years old of Belleville have both been charged with one count of Break and Enter a dwelling house - commit an indictable offence and one count of Assault.  Both males were released on conditions with a court date of the 25th of November 2021.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

At 12:25 a.m. on the 16th of October 2021, police were dispatched to Loyalist College for a medical assist at the request of Hastings Prince Edward Emergency Services (EMS). EMS staff advised that a possible stabbing had occurred within one of the student residences. 

At 12:28 a.m. police arrived and determined that three individuals had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.  Two involved persons were treated at Belleville General Hospital and were later released.  Members of the Belleville Police Service Forensic Identification Unit and Criminal Investigations Division attended and are continuing to investigate.    

As a result of the investigation Roland Brazeau, 21 years old of Belleville, Ontario was arrested and charged with three counts of Assault with a weapon section 267(a) of the Criminal Code.  Brazeau was released on conditions and issued a first appearance court date of November 25th 2021.  Police believe this was an isolated incident and do not believe there are any further safety concerns at the residence. Loyalist College is fully cooperating with police during this investigation.
