Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 77 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on May 04, 2023 to 5:00 am on May 05, 2023.

Drug Trafficking Arrests

In December of 2022, investigators with Project Renewal began a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation relating to the trafficking of cocaine from the Greater Toronto Area into the Quinte region.

On the 3rd of May 2023 investigators with Project Renewal, with the assistance of the Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit, K9 Unit and OPP Street Crime Units, conducted a vehicle stop in Quinte West. Three CDSA search warrants were then executed at residences, two being in Scarborough and one in Whitby.

As a result of the investigation and subsequent searches, the following items were seized:

  • 799.13 grams of Cocaine
  • $32,145.00 in Canadian currency
  • 3 cell phones
  • Two replica firearms

Twenty-nine-year-old Elison Teliska of Scarborough was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Teliska was released on an Undertaking with a court date in June 2023.

Twenty-four-year-old Dominic Brown of Scarborough was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Brown was released on an Undertaking with a court date in June 2023.

 

Resist Arrest and Attempt to Disarm a Police Officer

On the 4th of May 2023 at 10:07 a.m., Belleville Police were called to assist paramedics with a 24-year-old suicidal female in the east end of the City.  Information was provided to police that the female had fled on foot through the backyard of residences.  Officers located the female who appeared intoxicated on unknown substances.  Officers attempted to arrest the female for public intoxication however she resisted arrest and attempted to remove an officer’s firearm from their holster.  Following a brief struggle, officers gained control of the female, completed the arrest and transported her to the Belleville Police Service.  Belleville resident Skye Verheyen was charged with resisting arrest and attempting to disarm a police officer.  She was released when she was sober and given a court date in June 2023.
