Fire
On June 2nd 2023 at about 2pm, Belleville Police and Belleville Fire responded to the area of South Church St near the CP tracks for the reports of a large fire.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and no injuries were reported. The Belleville Police continue to investigate this occurrence.
By way of context: Belleville Emergency Services have responded to 12 fires related to arson or accident in the past month. Some have been minor arsons (garbage fires) while others have required considerable time and effort to extinguish (barn fire on 19 May 2023 – Old Kingston Rd). Police are requesting the public to remain vigilant in the observation and reporting of fires to Emergency Services so that they can be quickly extinguished before they become out of control and anyone becomes injured.
Mischief
On June 3rd 2023 at about 9:45am, Belleville Police attended an apartment complex on Benjamin St. for the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, police learned that a vehicle had been damaged with a baseball bat. Two females were located and arrested at the scene. Sandra WRIGHT, 30 years old and Breanna GILHOOLEY, 18 years old both of Belleville were later released on an Undertaking with a July court date.
Perfume Miscommunication!
Belleville Police received information from a male that a female had “threatened him with a gun” at a restaurant on Bell Blvd on June 3rd 2023 about 5:30pm. No weapon was actually observed.
Officers attended and spoke to an intoxicated male outside the restaurant who told police that he liked the perfume a female was wearing and attempted to communicate with her. According to the male, the female replied that she had a gun.
When officers spoke to the female, she provided a VERY different account of the events. She explained that her perfume was called “JULIETTE HAS A GUN”. Police were able to confirm her story with restaurant staff and a quick Google search.
The incident was resolved peacefully and police ensured the male arrived home safely following the incident.
Domestic Assault
On June 4th 2023 at 7am, Belleville Police were contacted regarding a domestic dispute. Police attended and spoke to the female victim who had suffered injuries as a result of an assault by her male ex-partner. Further investigation revealed that the male was also on conditions not to be around the victim. As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old male of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, failing to comply with a Probation Order and three counts of failing to comply with a Release Order. He was held for a bail hearing.
