Break and Enter

On Tuesday July 18, 2023 Belleville Police were dispatched to a North Front Street business for a reported break and enter.

Staff at the location arrived to find that sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered the premises through a rear window and stole several items.

Project RENEWAL Firearms seized

On July 18, 2023 Project Renewal with the assistance of Belleville Emergency Response Unit and the Belleville Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at an east end apartment building.

The warrant led to the arrest of two Belleville men – aged 33 and 47 – on numerous charges in addition to the seizure of numerous firearms and ammunition.

Items seized:

• Mossburg .22-caliber bolt action rifle;
• Akkar 12-gauge pump shotgun;
• Savage .22-caliber, single shot bolt action rifle;
• Three .22-caliber banana clip magazines each with a 25-round capacity -two were empty and one contained 20 rounds;
• 1 box (25 rounds) Winchester 12-gauge ammunition #71/2 shot;
• 10 rounds Winchester 12-gauge ammunition #4 shot turkey load;
• 25 rounds 12-gauge 00 buckshot;
• Estimated 400 rounds Remington .22-caliber ammunition;
• 9 rounds .22-caliber CCL Stinger ammunition;
• 2 Remington .22-caliber long rifle round nose ammunition;
• 12 rounds Steelworx .22-caliber long rifle snap caps;
• 6 rounds Remington 12-gauge ammunition;
• 1 round Score 12-gauge slug;
• Colt Defender .177-caliber pellet hand gun;
• Browning .177-caliber pellet hand gun with red dot scope;
• Crossman backpacker .22-caliber pellet long gun.

Rudi McCoy, 33, of Belleville was charged with:

1. 3 x Unauthorized Possession of a firearm – Sec. 91(1) CC
2. 3 x Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a firearm – Sec 92(1) CC
3. Careless Storage of a firearm – Sec 86(1) CC
4. 2 x Breach of Probation – Sec 733.1(1) CC

Jesse Gornall, 47, of Belleville was charged with:

1. 3 x Unauthorized Possession of a firearm – Sec. 91(1) CC
2. 3 x Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a firearm – Sec 92(1) CC
3. 2 x Possession of firearm/ammunition while prohibited – Sec 117.01(1) CC
4. Careless Storage of a firearm – Sec 86(1) CC
5. 3 x Breach of Probation – Sec 733.1(1) CC

Both individuals were held in police custody for a bail hearing Wednesday.
