Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 78 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on July 26, 2023 to 5:00 am on July 27, 2023.

 

Theft of Scooter

On the 26th of July 2023, at 12:55pm, Belleville Police responded to a call on Front Street regarding the theft of a motorized scooter. The scooter, a Hiboy S2 Pro, was stolen from outside a business. Police attended and were able to identify the suspect, and he was later located; however, he no longer had the scooter with him.  Justin Minaker, 35 years old of Belleville, was arrested and charged with theft under $5000. He was later released with an August 2023 court date.  Anyone who has information about, or observes the scooter, is asked to call the Belleville Police Service.

 

Arrest of warrants

On the 26th of July 2023, at 6:15pm, officers were patrolling Victoria Park, when a male, who was known to have warrants for his arrest, was observed. Greg Beard, 31 years old of Belleville, was arrested on his outstanding warrants for two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, failing to comply with probation and failing to attend court. He was held in custody for a bail hearing on 27 July 2023.

 

Break and enter

On the 27th of July 2023, at 2:50am, Belleville Police responded to an alarm at a Church on Church Street. Upon arrival, police observed an insecure door but did not locate anyone inside. A short time later, a male returned and broke a window. He then entered the church and attempted to steal a statue. Police quickly re-attended, located and arrested a 40-year-old Belleville male. He was charged with break and enter, mischief, and two counts of breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing on 27 July 2023.
