Quick-footed fellow nabbed

Despite taking off on the run when spotted by officers, a 38-year-old Belleville man was arrested on outstanding warrants in the downtown core, Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when patrol officers observed a man known to be wanted on outstanding warrants for assault and breaching probation.

The male was inside a business on Front Street at the time and took off on the run when police began approaching.

Following a brief pursuit, Tyler Watson was arrested and taken into custody without further incident and held for a bail hearing Thursday on the existing warrants.

Wanted woman snagged in Ottawa

A 28-year-old woman wanted by city police on a number of charges was arrested by the Ottawa Police Service, Wednesday.

Around 3:30 p.m. city police were advised that members of the Ottawa Police Service had a female in custody who had warrants from Belleville.

Belleville Police officers drove to the nation’s capital, took custody of the female and brought her back to Belleville where she will face a bail hearing Thursday.

Jillian Fisher is facing charges including failing to comply with a release order, failing to attend court, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, assault and theft under $5,000.
