Breach of Undertaking

On the 14th of August 2023 at 4:19 pm, a 33-year-old male from St. Mary’s ON and an adult female were travelling on the 401 near Quinte West when they were stopped by another police agency.  Police learned that the male was on conditions not to be in communication with the female that was in the vehicle.  The male was arrested, charged and released on an Undertaking with conditions not to communicate with the female.  The vehicle was towed to a secured tow yard in Belleville’s north end.

At 9:28 pm, Belleville Police were called to the tow yard in the city’s north end regarding a male causing a disturbance.  Police attended and learned that the male from St. Mary’s was attempting to retrieve his vehicle.  Belleville Police remained on scene preserving the peace while the vehicle was retrieved.

At 10:21 pm, Belleville Police were called to a business on Hwy #62 just north of Belleville for reports of a male and female involved in an intimate partner dispute.  The vehicle departed prior to police arrival.  Police were able to obtain a detailed description of the vehicle and the parties involved.  Police searched the area and observed the vehicle stopped on the side of Hwy #62 just north of Ashley St.  Belleville Police spoke to the driver who was again identified as the male from St. Mary’s.  The male advised police that he was just trying to make his way back to the London area and that he was by himself.

Having located the vehicle only minutes after it departed from the business on Hwy #62 and concerned for the safety of the female, police searched the vehicle and located her hiding under a blanket in the back of the vehicle.  As a result, the male was again arrested and charged with two counts on breaching his Undertaking.  The male was held for a bail hearing.
