Domestic assault
A 26-year-old Belleville man was arrested and held for a bail hearing following a domestic incident in the city’s north end, Wednesday.
Shortly after 5 p.m. officers were called to an area of Highway 37 and Roslin Road for a report of a dispute. While driving to the residence, officers learned the male involved – who was on a number of conditions including a conditional sentence order - was observed leaving the scene on foot with a firearm.
A number of police units arrived at the scene and began searching for the male.
He was located inside a nearby home and surrendered a short time later to police.
The female involved in the dispute sustained no serious injuries.
The 26-year-old male – whose name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim – was charged with assault with a weapon, breach of probation, failing to comply with a firearm prohibition order and breaching his conditional sentencing order.
He was held for a bail hearing today.
Suspended driver
An officer conducting traffic enforcement at an east end intersection charged a motorist with driving with a suspended licence early Thursday.
The incident took place at 3:40 a.m. at the intersection of Bridge Street East and Foster Avenue when the officer pulled over the vehicle and checked the validity of the licence of the motorist.
The 37-year-old city man was charged with driving with a suspended licence and issued a February 5, 2023 court date.
