Mischief

On the 29^th of December at 11:54pm, officers were called to an apartment building in the city’s east end regarding a male who had entered the building and was attempting to break into the coin operated laundry machines.

The suspect was described as being a white male, approximately 5’6” tall, wearing a red sweater and having a very distinctive hair cut with his head shaved on the sides and long on the top. 

Police searched the area however were unable to locate the suspect. Anyone with information regarding this occurrence or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Cst. Erik Fernandes at efernandes@bellevilleps.ca or 613-966-0882 x 4239.

RIDE Program

Officers with the Belleville Police Service conducted a RIDE program on New Year’s Eve at various locations throughout the city.  Police checked 150 vehicles and are pleased to report that there were no incidents of impaired driving.  One Provincial Offence Notice was issued for a Highway Traffic Act violation. 

Breach of the Peace

On the 1^st of January at 3:00am, police received a complaint of a disturbance at an apartment building in the city’s north end.  Police initially attended regarding a noise complaint and cautioned the homeowner.  The noise was lowered as requested.  A short time later, police were informed that two males had re-entered the residence and escalated the disturbance again.  Police re-attended.  The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of both males for breaching the peace.  The males were 20 and 24 years old and are both from Belleville.

Once it was determined that the men were not going to continue the disturbance, they were both released unconditionally. 

Public Intoxication

On the 1^st of January just prior to 1:00am, police were called to the downtown core regarding a male who had been screaming and hollering while walking the streets for the previous 20 minutes.  Police attended and located the male.  The investigation revealed that the 58-year-old male of Consecon was heavily intoxicated and unable to safely care for himself.  As a result, the male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.  He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he remained until he was sober. 

Assault Peace Officer and Breach of Probation

On the 1^st of January at 4:10pm, police received a request to attend a residence in the city’s north end regarding a male who was causing a disturbance.  Upon arrival, police learned that the male was breaching a condition of his probation.  While dealing with the male, he physically assaulted an officer.  As a result, 20-year-old Lucas Fox of Belleville was arrested and charged with breaching his probation and assaulting a Peace Officer.  Fox was released on an Undertaking with a court date in January 2024.  The officer did not sustain any injuries.
