Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 190 calls for service between 5:00 am on January 12, 2024 to 5:00 am on January 15, 2024.

 

Break and Enter – Police Looking to Identify Suspect

On the 10th of January at 9:00am, police received a call regarding a break and enter that occurred at an apartment building on Ann Street.  Police learned that an unknown person entered the building by breaking the locks on the front doors.  Once inside, the suspect went to the basement, cut off a pad lock to a secured area and then proceeded to steal items.

Domestic Assault

On the 13th of January at 5:37am, police were called to a west end residence regarding a domestic disturbance.  Officers arrived on scene and located a female who had sought safety in a bathroom.  Police spoke to the female and learned that she had sustained physical injuries as a result of an assault.  The male suspect was also located within the residence.  Following the investigation, a 27-year-old male from Belleville was charged with assault, assault with a weapon and uttering death threats.  The male was held for a bail hearing.

 

Public Intoxication

On the 13th of January at 2:00am, Belleville Police officers on patrol located a male passed out in the snow in the west end of the city.  The male was awoken and was determined to be highly intoxicated from the consumption of alcohol.  As the male was unable to care for himself and for his safety, the 74-year-old male from Belleville was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.  He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he remained until he was sober.  He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice. 

 

Arrested on Warrant

On the 14th of January at 8:43pm, police received a request to attend a hotel on North Front St. regarding an unwanted person.  Police attended and spoke to the involved parties.  While doing so, police learned that the male who was refusing to leave also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for breaching is probation conditions.  As a result, Jason Meichelbeck, 37-years-old of Belleville was arrested on the strength of the warrant.  He was later released on an Undertaking with a court date in February 2024.
