Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 84 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on January 17, 2024 to 5:00 am on January 18, 2024.

 

Arrested on Warrant

On the 17th of January at 9:00am, police responded to the area of Campbell Street regarding a suspicious male. The male was observed in the area and he intentionally began to walk away from police. Police caught up with the male who was identified as 36-year-old Douglas McGregor of no fixed address. Police learned that McGregor was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. McGregor was arrested on the strength of the warrant and was held for bail.

 

Arrested on Warrant

On the 17th of January 12:40pm, officers on patrol observed a male who was the subject of numerous outstanding warrants.  Police stopped the 33-year-old male of no fixed address and arrested him on the strength of the outstanding warrants held by the Belleville Police Service. The warrants were for assault, sexual assault, uttering threats x2 and overcome resistance by choking.  The name of the male is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Arrested on Warrant

On the 17th of January at 10:00pm, a female entered the front lobby of the Belleville Police Service requesting police call her a cab. The female was identified as Melissa Gould who was wanted on outstanding warrants for fail to appear in court x2, fail to comply with probation and mischief under $5000.  Gould was arrested on the strength of the warrants.  She was later released on an Undertaking with a court date in February. 

 

Project Renewal – Arrest

On the 17th of January, members of Project Renewal concluded an investigation which focused on the trafficking of controlled substances at a place of worship on Bridge St. East near the downtown core.  During the investigation, the following was seized:

  • Fentanyl - 31.5 grams
  • Methamphetamines - 24.9 grams
  • Canadian currency $102.35
  • Cellular device
  • Drug paraphernalia

Ibrahim Muhia, 28-years-old of Trenton was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking - Fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamines
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

Muhia was held for a bail hearing.
