Domestic Assault

On the 25^th of January at 5:45pm, police responded to a residence in the city’s west end for the report of a domestic disturbance.  When police arrived, an adult female was actively assaulting her partner.  The female was taken into custody without incident.  Police continued the investigation and learned that the female had also smashed joint property within the home during the dispute.  There were no reported physical injuries to the victim. 

As a result of the investigation and the officer’s direct observations, a 59-year-old female from Belleville was arrested and charged with domestic assault and mischief.  She was later released on an Undertaking with a court date in February.  The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
