Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 236 calls for service between 5:00 am on February 2, 2024 to 5:00 am on February 5, 2024.

 

Assault Peace Officer    

On the 2nd of February at 9:02am, police responded to the area of Cannifton Rd and Byron Street regarding a call for assistance by an officer with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO). The MTO officer had stopped a vehicle and while trying to obtain the documentation for the vehicle, the two male occupants became aggressive with the officer. Police attended to assist the MTO officer.  Both males continued to be aggressive and then became physically assaultive.  As a result, 31-year-old Andrew MACKINLAY and 34-year-old Matthew MACKINLAY, both from Belleville, were arrested and charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer. They were both transported to the Belleville Police Service where they were later released on an Undertaking with a court date in March.

 

Traffic stop leads to arrest

On the 3rd of February at 10:55pm, police conducted a traffic stop on Bell Blvd and spoke to the driver.  While doing so, police learned that he was currently breaching his release order which included a curfew and being away from his residence without his surety.  As a result, Nathan Mackenzie, 40-years-old of Kingston was arrested and charged with two counts of breaching his release order.  He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in March. 

 

Domestic Assault

On the 4th of February at 2:33am, police were called to a residence in the city’s west end regarding a disturbance.  Police spoke to the parties at the residence and learned that the disturbance was a domestic disturbance and that one of the parties had physically been assaulted.  As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old female from Belleville was arrested and charged with domestic assault.  She was released on an Undertaking with a court date in February.  The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Impaired Driving – Collision into a building

On the 4th of February at 2:27pm, police received a call regarding a vehicle that drove into a building on North Front St. Upon arrival by police, they spoke to the female driver and formed the belief that she was impaired by drugs.  Police spoke to witnesses and continued their investigation with the assistance of an OPP Drug Recognition Expert.  As a result of the investigation, Jamie-Lynn Whiteman, 43-years-old of Deseronto was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and impaired driving by drugs.  She was released on an Undertaking with a court date in March.
